From Mediator to Coach: The Ins and Outs of Conflict Coaching/MWI

  • 01 Dec 2015
  • 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
  • MWI, 10 Liberty Square - 4th Floor, Boston, MA 02109

What if two parties in conflict despise the idea of sitting down with each other, either with or without the help of a third party facilitator, and would rather use a neutral to have direct, solo conversations? Or what if someone uncomfortable with confrontation is looking to strengthen this skillset? Enter conflict coaching, a practice most of us have now heard of but still don’t know enough about. Most people would be interested to learn that many of the skills used by mediators and facilitators translate to conflict coaching. But which skills, and how do we learn to apply them as a coach? How do people become qualified or proficient enough to provide conflict coaching to paying clients and what resources are available to mediators looking to expand their practice?

Heidi Werther is a life coach and mediator with MWI who received coaching certification from the highly acclaimed Coaches Training Institute, as well as a Master of Science degree in Mediation and Applied Conflict Studies from Champlain College. Join Heidi to learn what conflict coaching is all about and how she believes being trained as a certified professional coach allows one to provide an extra level of service to their clients.

MWI Roundtable events are free for all active MWI mediators. Those who are not actively mediating with the MWI Court Panel are welcome to attend one Roundtable per year for free, while all others attended thereafter cost $50 per Roundtable. RSVP is required for all attendees and can be completed by registering online. For more information on this and other upcoming MWI Roundtables, click here.
