May Program with David Hoffman: The Psychology of Mediation

Please join us for the next virtual 2021 event taking place on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, from 12:00-1:30 PM ET with David Hoffman.

David Hoffman (Boston Law Collaborative founder and NE-ACR member) will be presenting "The Psychology of Mediation: An Opportunity to Learn from Each Other". Understanding what makes people tick is a vital tool for mediators.  Psychologists offer us a variety of lenses for discerning the root causes of conflict and how we can be helpful in resolving it.  David Hoffman will lead an interactive discussion about the analytic tools that each of us has found useful, ranging from cognitive biases, core concerns, and high-conflict people, to internal family systems, and many others.  Please bring your favorite theory to share!! 

David is a mediator, arbitrator, Collborative Practice attorney, and founder of the Boston Law Collaborative, LLC. He is also the John H. Watson, Jr. Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School, where he teaches courses on mediation, diversity, collaborative law and legal ethics. He is the past chair of the ABA Section of Dispute Resolution and former president of the NE-ACR. His publications include "Bringing Peace into the Room" (with co-editor Daniel Bowling) (Josey-Bass 2003) and "Mediation: A Practice Guide for Mediators, Lawyers, and Other Professionals (MCLE 2013).
