Facilitating Public Meetings/Public Conversations Project

  • 27 Mar 2014
  • 8:30 AM - 4:30 PM
  • 46 Kondazian Street, Watertown, MA 02472
In today’s world, leading effective public meetings has become increasingly difficult. Our highly polarized society contributes to a “win-lose” mentality, and tight economic times heighten the stakes when people come together to tackle public policy issues. Lack of confidentiality, the role of the media, and evolving technology further complicate the process. Designing and facilitating effective public meetings requires coolness, clarity, courage and skill. This workshop will help participants address the challenges of engaging an impassioned and deeply involved public in constructive conversation.

Learn:
-How to construct “a safe-enough container” to promote effective engagement
-How to set participants’ expectations and clarity of purpose
-How to promote “good faith” and open-hearted engagement

Develop:
-Strategies for establishing constructive group norms
-Greater confidence in your ability to facilitate through challenging moments

Experience:
-The power of structure and agreements to shape constructive public meetings
-The opportunity to share ideas and strategies with colleagues doing similar work

Pricing:
Regular fee = $150
Bring a friend discount (20% off each registration) = $120
Early Bird Special = $125
